Younger men (30s & 40s) can get away with it too on occasions where they want something masculine and elegant something different from the typical sweet vanilla scents that are so ubiquitous today. I find Versace L'Homme to be a fairly versatile fragrance and would be a good signature scent for a man over 50. Very enjoyable, great longevity, good sillage and good value. This is becoming one of my favourite fragrances in this genre. I'm a fairly recent user of Versace L'Homme and I wish that I had discovered it years ago. As Versace L'Homme begins to dry down the soapiness gives way to a more leather scent with some nice herbal elements. There is a soapie accord in the opening that gives a very nice clean feel.
The opening is great and catches my attention with strong wood and moss elements tampered with patchouli and the labdanum bringing it together and giving it some warmth. It is a classic barbershop scent of the 1980s and is still very wearable and able to garner compliments today. It does draw complements, when I’ve worn it in the past, folks have seemed to appreciate its aroma.Versace L'Homme is a beautiful masculine, warm, woody aromatic scent. One could also wear this casually or for a night out no problems. You can of course wear it to work or formally and it works very well. This is well put together, but not overly formal or buttoned up. It can be difficult to find a good daily wear in those areas, but this will absolutely do the job.Īnother strength is just how versatile of a fragrance it can be. However, if you live in a hot and humid climate, Pour Homme is a fragrance option which excels in those conditions. I suppose that you could wear it anytime during the year, but it’s always felt out of place to me, in the cold temperatures of winter.
Seasonally, this one strikes me as a summer scent. It is sort of strange, after it started off so strong, that I can never get more time from this fragrance. Also, considering that this is a summery citrus fragrance, that time frame isn’t too bad at all. It isn’t super long lasting, 5-6 hours for me, but that is usually adequate enough for most daily purposes. You could definitely over-spray, within that first few hours time frame, but it should be tolerable to others thereafter. When the cologne settles down, it becomes more of a moderate fragrance overall. The sillage is pretty darn loud upon application. That is probably why, I enjoy wearing that scent more.Īs I wrote above, Pour Homme really starts off strong for me. I pick up more tonka bean in the Chanel versus this Versace.
I do get the comparisons to Allure Homme Sport by Chanel, but I like that scent better than this one. It’s still got that bright citrus demeanor, but you do get stronger undertones of floral notes and a musky herbal spice. It’s ultimately a citrus based, semi-aquatic cologne, which based on your preferences may or may not be your thing. Actually, leans a bit more towards the sweeter end of the spectrum, but not completely that either.Īfter the initial hour, the tonka and green/floral notes started to emerge more and balance out this fragrance. That initial freshness can be intense, but it doesn’t really strike me as being super tart or anything.

The sillage of Versace Pour Homme was really strong on my skin for about an hour. Also, the initial opening is much stronger than a short time later in its life cycle, so just be prepared for that. Pair these two notes with neroli and you get an idea of how much citrus cleanliness, you should expect. The bergamot and bitter orange leaf notes are very prominent upon that initial smell and it stays that way on my skin for around 30 minutes. Versace opens up with, a clean and citric quality, that really captures one’s attention.
